Should have mentioned yesterday, hoping to fill in the blanks on the blog too, update the links, do some gear reviews and I may even chenge the theme, getting a bit bored of this one even though it is rather pretty!
Looking forward to riding again Friday, going even if it is raining!
‘ello,
Ive been slack.
Ive been very slack.
Ive been lazy.
Ive eaten no end of shite.
Ive come back round to thinking about cycling.
So, we are still in July, and Phills fantastic #150 is still up for grabs. I know lots of people have done way more than 150 and top credit to you, I have a cunning plan to sneak in there at the last moment, its only right after all, I got Clive in on it again. I kind of owe it to myself to.
Friday I have the day off, so I plan on getting up reasonably early and Im going to go and hit the Oxfordshire classic route, 60 miles of it, then Saturday I fully intend to get a swift 30+ miles in. Its a bloody big ask for me, but my motivation has returned and I want to prove I can do it.
Here is hoping I will have plenty of good news to share with you Friday evening!
Hello! Im still about, very, very busy at the moment though, which isn’t so great, the first thing out the window is the cycling.
Things should be easing up in the near future though, hopefully.
Managed to ride to work yesterday, knees and hip was hurting like a b******d but still managed a reasonable time.
I have been watching the tour of ITV4, or maybe I should say, the adverts with a bit of cycling. They are REALLY spoiling the actual riding for me. Cant help but be majorly impressed with the riders though, sprint finishes after all those miles! amazing stuff.
Yesterdays Stats:

Today was the long awaited pastie ride, we met at Rafes, JB cycled over from his place…40+ miles away and Rafes friend Phill joined us too. There was a bit of wind, but nothing too bad, so off we set and we soon settled into a nice speed through some beautiful villages, that although they are only a few miles from home, I hardly knew they existed!
We cruised into Cirencester and found the pasty shop, this was very welcome to say the least and sat by the church was really very pleasent. It was then mentioned that a pint of cider was in order, although I dont drink very often it sounded like a fine idea, so we found a pub with beer garden and stopped and had a swift pint (or half for me and Rafe for we are light weights) it slipped down a treat and of course the danger of lunchtime drinking reared it head..sitting there and having an all dayer! this of course was not an option!
At this point JB left us so he could return back to his place and we headed off towards home, again we went at a nice speed and had a little stop in Bibury, we were passing close and it seemed a good idea to pop in and have an ice cream, being as Rafe and I missed out earlier in the week, we managed to finish our ice creams just a a bus load of tourists were heading that way, so I think we were rather lucky.
Had a good run back from Bibury, Rafe wanted to go back via Coleshill, now this is a bastard of a hill, not very long but rather steep, he last took me up this hill back in Feb after a 10 mile ride, today we hit it around the 43 mile mark. I wont say I few up it king of the mountain style, but I got up it and thinking back it was a bit easier than before. maybe this cycling is doing some good after all!!
The ride back from Rafe’s was ok, stopped in to see me ol mate Matt, and he stocked me up on Soreen, which is still in my view food of the gods, after that quick ride back to my place and job done.
Very happy, that was the most miles I have done in 1 day plus I hit a new fastest speed of 37.3mph. In all, a good day!
Todays stats

Route is HERE
Well, its Friday, so it was scales morning.
Static. Which was kind of annoying but on the plus side I did have to go in a notch on the belt this week, which was rather nice!
Pretty good mileage, with 66.62, pleased with that for sure! a good bulk of that was because of the pesky #June100 and the fact that I want to be upping my miles.
Got the long awaited “pasty ride” tomorrow, with Rafe, JB and possibly a few others, looking forward to this, we are heading to Cirecncester where Im told there is a very good pasty shop, so we shall eat all the pies and ride home, should clock in at around 50 odd miles, which will be a record distance in one hit for me!
After all the faffing with the pedals / shoes and cleats this week, I popped over to the LBS and got the right cleats and I fitted them this afternoon, had a little try of them and they seem ok, I will report more when I have used them properly.
Im a little worried about my calf at the moment, as you may recall I got a nasty cramp in it the other day and annoyingly it is still hurting, feels all sort of bruised on the inside, I just hope a stretch and a ride tomorrow will sort it out.
